Health program enrollment passes milestone
Family Health Plan today announced that enrollment in the Healthy Kids program has surpassed .10,000 members. Healthy Kids, at www.scfhp.com, the first program of its kind in the nation, offers comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage to children in low- and middle-income families who do not qualify for public programs.
At its inception,
it was estimated that 18,000 children in Santa Clara County qualified for the
program. Since Jan. 2, 2001, 10,283 have been enrolled. By this time next year,
an estimated 14,000 children are projected to be in the program, which received
its initial funding from tobacco settlement money, Proposition 10 cigarette
taxes and a donation from Santa Clara Family Health Foundation.
