| SCFHP to study the insurance needs of day care providers
California HealthCare Foundation Step-by-Step Project to Study Insurance Options for Child Care Providers CAMPBELL,
CA – January, 2004 – Thanks to the generous support of the California HealthCare Foundation, Santa Clara Family Health Plan will be partnering with the Institute for Early Childhood Professional Development, Santa Clara Family Health Foundation, and others to study the need for affordable, subsidized insurance coverage for child care providers in Santa Clara County. The project - part of the California HealthCare Foundation's Step-by-Step program - began in February 2004 and will take approximately one year to complete. We will be working directly with the child care community, doing needs assessments, conducting focus groups, evaluating similar programs in other areas, and assessing the feasibility of establishing an insurance package for child care providers in our area. We recognize that child care providers are charged with the tremendous responsibility of caring for our community's most precious resource, our children. We would like to do what we can to give these dedicated professionals access to the quality health care services they need and deserve.
